Please note:
We are in the process of making up the Marshal Roster for the
rest of the year. If you can assist please
contact our Marshal Co-ordinator, Glen Thornton.
Track set-up starts at 1.30pm. Can you please ensure that
you attend at that time to assist with track set-up.
Track cleaning and preparation is a part of
your afternoon marshalling. As I have consistently reminded members, this is OUR
club with the emphasis on "OUR" It is not about a select
few doing all the work to facilitate racing. It is about
us all pitching in to make it work. Please advise our
Marshal Co-ordinator EARLY in the week prior to Saturday,
that you will be performing your rostered duty. |
|
You will only be called upon
for assistance hopefully only 1 day per year to facilitate racing.
Don't let your club and your mates down. Don't forget
you don't have to do it personally. You can nominate, a
friend, relative or swap with a mate. There are plenty
of options. All you have to do is accept responsibility
for that date and ensure that someone will assist to
facilitate the running of the races.

CONGRATULATIONS TO NANNA & PA BUCKTON |

Oh and congrats also to Kate Buckton and
Daniel Costa on the birth of Little Marcelo Antonio
Costa-Buckton who came into this world about 1 week
late, but managed to be born just prior to race time at
Heffron Park and on the Prologue day of the 2011 Tour de
France. Actually whilst his name finally adopted
his spanish heritage, for a moment there he was almost
going to be named Lance, perhaps we might call him that
as a nick name. Anyway Joanne and I can report
that our Grandson was born about 1.22pm on Sat afternoon
2 July. He weighed in at 3.155kgs and was 50cm
long. Mum and bub are doing fabulously as can be

CONGRATULATIONS WORLD CHAMPION
DAVE STEVENS
On Friday 11th March at the NSW State Pursuit Championships,
Dave Stevens, wearing the rainbow jersey as existing world
Masters champion in that event, recorded a 3:27.4 and smashed
the existing world record which was owned by Noriyuki Iijima of
Japan ( 3.27.826 )
Then
on Saturday 26 March Dave had another go at the Qualifying for
the Masters Nationals, this time the day was pretty slow, so a
super fast time looked unlikely. In the end however, Dave
managed a 3:26.0 which was a further 1.4seconds faster than his
previous record and 1.8 faster than Noriyuki.
Despite the fact the on Friday the 11th Japan was hit by a
devastating earthquake and tsunami, Noriyuki phoned though his
best wishes prior to the event and also his congratulations
afterwards. Now that's sportsmanship. Congratulations
Dave. |

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR NSW
STATE TEAM CHAMPIONS |
 |
Congratulations to the RBCC/Brennan IT Track Team, who
in the Masters All Ages 3000 metre pursuit last night
(Sat 26 Feb) at the Dunc Gray velodrome, smashed the
State record in the qualification round. Just to
show it was no fluke, they came back from being down in
the final kilo, to smash it yet again in a 3 min
23.192sec. A big thank you to Ian Atkin who had to
step up after a little hickup with our gun rider Graeme
Allbon. A fabulous ride from Aaron Latinovic who
had to hold on to Dave Stevens and Gavin White as they
ramped up the speed to around 60kph in the closing laps.
Graeme got to get some serious intel from the sidelines
on his team and when he comes onboard for the Nationals,
get ready for some real heart stopping action. |

CHRISTMAS PUDDING RACES |
|
 |
Congratulations yet again for Phil Grenfell
Congrats to Phil Grenfell who took
out the Christmas Pudding A grade event from the
absolute narrowest of margins from Richard Lang in an
absolutely fabulous sprint at Heffron Park on Saturday
18 Dec.
At the conclusion, all riders from
RBCC and other clubs enjoyed a sumptuous Christmas feast
with kilos of Tiger prawns, etc etc. It was truly
unfortunate that for whatever reason, the Heirachy of
Eastern Suburbs apparently informed Easts members that
this was an RBCC only event. It was always open to
all, as is all of our Saturday races.

RICHIE SMALL
RBCC is saddened at the passing of Richard (Richie)
Small of the Manning Valley Cycling Club, this morning

Richie was an enigma of the sport which he loved so
dearly having been a member of Cycling Australia for

National Commissaire who officiated as Chief Comm at
just about every major event in NSW. He will be
sadly missed.
