REPORT
Saturday
turned out to be a typical Heffron Park race day.....windy! A
strong southerly blowing in and blowing the respective grades to
bits.
A Grade
started with a healthy number of participants but ended with a
somewhat unhealthy looking bunch of riders, all except the
strong men of the bunch; Andrew Crawley and Angus Gale.

The pair
broke away early and remained ahead of the chasing bunch to
cross the line. It was a huge effort given the windy condition
and the quality of the chasing riders of Robbie Cater and Sam
Rutherford. Keeping Sam and Robbie in check and defending a team
mate in Angus Gale was Andrew Herrmann and Antony Dimitrovsk,
waiting to attack if the group came together.

B Grade
usually being the largest bunch at Heffron, was no different
today, the only difference being was that only a handful
finished the race at the front end of the field. The wind left
its mark in B grade as number of the usual strong men were
reduced to the spectator bench. Congratulations to Dave
Watkinson for a fine win.

C Grade
was the only bunch that seemed to handle the conditions as a
group and most riders toughed out the conditions and finished in
the bunch sprint. The sprint to the line was a tough fought out
affair into the strong head win. The riders with enough in the
tank, maintained their sprinting legs with Martin Barry just
taking it from Jon Clark.

D Grade
was also reduced to the ones who could tough out the conditions.
There seemed to be a few attacks, but it was hard to gauge, it
may have been the windy conditions had some riders struggling in
the head wind, but managing
to get back onto the main bunch when out of the wind.
