Thirteen RBCC members had a fabulous holiday over the Easter break at Cootamundra this year.  We could not have asked for better weather.  Just perfect conditions with not even a breath of wind for the first 2 days and a gentle breeze on the final day added a little more .  Riding across the Cootamundra landscape, it seemed that summer stayed around a few weeks later just to accommodate us as we enjoyed our rides wearing only kicks and jerseys, our arm and leg warmers relegated to the support vehicle.

DAY 1 (110 kms) All pictures day 1 here

First Morning started out with a lovely breakfast at the White Ibis.  We had to fuel up for the pending 110km ride.

We then assembled out the front for the group photo.

Robbie, Tanya, Sue, Graham & Bazza did a lot of work on the front and I stayed at the back to make sure that every one was going up to do a turn

Joanne followed the bunch with the support vehicle with water, food, bars, spares, etc.

Daniel went off the back up a couple of climbs so Joanne dropped back and paced him back on.

He then, assisted by the car, went straight past the bunch and went up the road.

But it wasn't long before he resumed his place at the back of the bunch again

First day over and it was time to relax in the comfort of the White Ibis Lounge and listen to Bazza's lies about the events of the first day.

DAY 2 (85kms)

All pictures Day 2 here

We assemble outside that grand old building, the Cootamundra Arts Centre

On the road again and the bunch settles into a nice rhythm.

Not long before the one and only puncture of the weekend.  Luckily Baz and I were there to lend inspiration to Graham.

Off again and I started to enjoy some of the nice climbs.

Bazza enjoyed them as well.  Perhaps not as much as many others in the bunch

Then there were the cows to contend with.

And the level crossings to contend with.

But all in all everyone was happy as they gave a wave for the camera.  Wait a minute.  Where's Robby?

Oh, There you are Robbie.

Today's ride took us into a pretty remote area where we never saw another human being for about an hour and when Trevor feeling a little tired asked me if we would be stopping, I jokingly said, "Oh es, there's a coffee shop just around the corner"  and guess what?  There was !!  There was the Bethunga Village Store, seemingly in the middle of nowhere.

Bazza signals that the low fat, skim, diet Latte is his.

On the road again and armed with a caffeine hit, Graham attacks up one of the climbs.  Con and I go with him.

Robbie starts bridging the gap with Sue and Bazza trying to go with him.

I jump on Robbie and he pulls me away from Con, Graham and Sue, whilst Bazza is OTA.

With 10kms to go Robbie drops the hammer and I am on his tail.  Not sure whether that's a smile or a grimace.

I just hung on for grim death.

Coming into town and I come around to do a turn.  Robbie 10kms, me 100 metres.  That's fair !

Robbie drags me into town at break neck speed.

Meanwhile back at the bunch, a peleton sprint fired up between Tanya and con

A bit further back, Bazza does a bit of sprint practise by himself.

Trevor rolls into town

Dave Price rolls in behind a magnificent old Ponitac.

We didn't see a lot of cars and were surprised to see that a large proportion of the ones that we came across were Pontiacs.  We later learned that the Pontiac club of Australia was having a meeting at Cootamundra

There were GTO Ponitacs, Trans AM Pontiacs, Old ones, not so old ones, etc etc.

DAY 3 (65kms) All pictures day 3 here

The mandatory pre ride start photo The bunch rolls along around the Cootamundra Haycarters race course Bit busier route this one as it incorporates some of the more major roads.

The bunch enjoys a downhill section.

About 10kms out and it was on again.  Bazza, Robbie and Graham got away.  I don't know how but Con and I got accross and then there were five.

The sprint into town and three guesses who won?
