REPORT

A near perfect day for racing saw 75 riders including Juniors battle it out on a rare and windless day at Heffron Park with temperatures hovering around the 22deg mark.

All grades enjoyed a healthy contingent of contenders with A Grade sporting a field of 17 or so riders who were content on rolling around for the majority of the race (maybe some nervous tension with the rider numbers), Sam Rutherford gently rolled off the front midway with no reaction from the bunch and put a gap that would eventually lead to a win.

Sam was joined by Sean O’Neal in the latter laps and the two worked together to maintain the gap and finish 1st and 2nd. Adam Socha lead the rest home to finish 3rd.

B Grade were racing hard with riders willing to do their share of the turns in the near perfect race conditions. However the usual suspects were there In the end and positioned themselves in the closing laps to contest a fast finish.

Andy Matthews seems to back in form (not sure if he has been out of form) and finished 1st to an inform and consistent Fabio Petro and Tim Packer coming in for a well deserved 3rd.

C Grade were also competitive with plenty of attacks to keep everyone honest, and a few first timers to Heffron fairing well.

In the end, Phil Jobling won fairly comfortably.

D Grade attacks were thick and fast and had the bunch gasping for breath at times, the attacks led by the boys could not hold off Kirsten Chee who finished 2nd. Scott Austin had enough energy to finish 1st with Gary Brouwer, 3rd.
