REPORT

The first week of the month saw another exciting Handicap race for A B & C grades.  There were 4 bunches: A (Open) riders who did 19 laps.  A (club), B grade & C grade who all did 18 laps. 

The handicap was very close this week with all the grades coming together on the Bell lap.  A (club) caught B grade very early in the race and they will need to go back a little.  The combined A club/B bunch caught C grade with about 5 to go and the A open riders who had worked hard all race caught the big combined bunch on the final lap.  Congratulations to A Open rider Brent Skippen who after a valiant chase for 36 kilometres, caught the field, went through the field. 

This huge effort took its toll however and Brent nothing left to sprint against Adam Socha who took the win.

Chris White had a great race and was seen up the front of the B grade bunch driving them often in the race.  Rocky must have layed down in the wet grass to get this shot.

The A (open) riders early in the race before the pace got a little bit too much for Matty Lucas.  Brent Skippen drives it with Dave Early on his wheel, Matty Lucas to Dave's right and Nick Wood at the back.  The guys worked well together recording sub 3 min laps, lap after lap.  A couple of fast ones were recorded in the 2 min 50s

PRIZE MONEY

With a significant fall in riders entries in the winter months we have had to drop the prise money a little, however it is still fantastic with the handicap winner receiving $150.

START TIMES

Randwick Botany Cycling Club conducts racing at Heffron Park, Maroubra NSW each Saturday throughout the year. Juniors start at 12.30pm. Seniors D, E, & F grades will start at 2pm and A, B & C grades will start at 3pm.

RACING SHEDULE

A handicap race for A B & C grades will be conducted on the first Saturday of every month.  Second,  fourth & fifth Saturdays will be normal scratch races.  On the Third Saturday of every month racing will be longer and conducted in reverse direction.  A grade 25 laps (50 kilometres), B grade 23 laps and C grade 20 laps.  D, E & F will be normal distance
