REPORT

Nathan Page did it again turning the A grade race into a
personal Individual Time Trial. Early in the race and Nathan
is out of the saddle driving over 'the pimple' whilst the
chasing A peleton can be seen in the distance to the rear.
| |
Next lap Matt Lucas made a valiant attempt to go across
the break but didn't quite make it and went back to the A
grade peleton. |
| |
It wasn't long before Nathan was going past the start
finish line and the others were not even in site. |
| |
Meanwhile, back at the peleton, the rest of A grade was
looking very stylish through the squircle. Left Matt Lucas
powers through "The Squircle" with a couple of Sydney boys
nipping at his heels. |
| |
Well Nathan was finished and half way through a victory
cuppa when the peleton sprint came around for the minor
placings. Second place was taken out by Easts rider
John Baxter. Fantastic to see Robbie Cater back at
Heffron and back into a bit of form with a fine third place
in A grade. Good one Robbie. |
| |
George Rohanna drives B grade over "The Pimple".
Interesting to see Tanya Newton a little further behind
racing B grade. Tanya is unbelievably fit at the
moment. Good on you Tanya. |
| |
B grade sprint and Frank Fortuna makes it look easy on
his brand new Argon 18 Gallium and I do mean brand new.
It was built Friday afternoon. Frank had a little ride
on it with me on Saturday morning around Centennial Park and
then out to La Perouse, and then he races it Sat afternoon
and easily wins B grade. Don't think that I am biased
or anything just because I am absolutely loving my brand new
Argon 18 monocoque carbon Gallium. By the way Argon 18
is a sponsor of our club so I can give them a plug. |
Jim Gray and his brother Hugh turned up for the big
Masters race at 2pm. Unfortunately only he and his
brother turned up. So they stuck around till 3pm and
raced our normal afternoon graded scratch races. They both
seemed to enjoy C grade at Heffron Park anyway. |
| |
Rocky Fortuna gasps for air as he takes C grade over
"The Pimple". He didn't do any work the whole race and
then sees me taking photos and magically appears at the
front of the bunch next lap as it approaches my camera
location. |
| |
Dave Cramption was driving so hard that he had Rocky's
tongue hanging out. |
| |
At the end of the race the two "Very Close" friends
congratulated each other. |
| |
Stuart King wins the C grade sprint in his trademark
Australia Post jersey (soon to disappear as I sold him a
Randwick Botany/FRF jersey). Luke Davison who told Joanne at
the registration desk that he was too sick to ride B grade
was allowed to ride C by Joanne on the strict proviso that
he didn't win it. In an absolutely gob smacking
co-incidence he rolled in in second place. Come on
Luke, you should be riding A grade, not C ! If any of
you are ill or just getting over an illness, don't go asking
the girls if you can race a grade or two lower, don't
race!! Go and do some recovery kilometres and when you
are back to form race in your normal grade. |

Paul Dimitriou, our D Grade workhorse, takes D grade
over "The Pimple" |
| |
E grade action and Tanya Bosche eventual 2nd place
getter leads eventual winner John Lynch over "The Pimple"
The bottom grades seemed much happier this week as we formed
a new grade, F Grade with a shuffling of riders between the
various grades. It appears to have had a great result
with all the grades demonstrating a measurable step between
them (around 2kph on average) and allowing for closer racing
between riders of similar ability. |
| |
F action and new member Olivia Brookes looks very
stylish in her first ever race as she gets out of the saddle
and drives over "The Pimple" with Trivia King Noel
Christensen close on her wheel. Further back is
Olivia's coach Karl Bellamy. Olivia scored a second place in
her first ever race. That is pretty impressive. |
