The Randwick Botany Cycling Club is one of the oldest clubs in Australia having been affiliated with the then, Cycling Union, in 1903.  In 2003 we celebrated our Centenary year with our Centenary Race day and Mega Dinner party.  A strong social theme exists between our considerable members.  Year 2003 saw our membership swell beyond 150 members.  We have a new major sponsor for 2005, being FRF Couriers.   Our membership has exceeded expectations and has swelled in excess of 200 members as of January 2005.   We are very lucky in that we are one of only a few clubs with our own clubhouse.  The clubhouse consists of an administration area, kiosk, showers, toilets and shower facilities.  The clubhouse assists in facilitating the great social atmosphere of the club and the great rapport and comradeship between the club members.  It is great to sit down after racing amongst friends, enjoying a tea or coffee and a sandwich perhaps, and regaling friends with the highlights of the race.  Sometimes such stories seem more exciting than the Tour De France (especially from the story teller's perspective).

The kiosk is well stocked with everything from tea and coffee to soft drinks, sports drinks & ice creams and a range of food from basic confectionary to fresh sandwiches.  Every now and then we even put on a barbeque.

The club caters for all types of rider from the social rider through to the serious racer.  We conduct training rides, fun events, individual & team time trial events, hill climbs, criterium and road racing events (click here for more details).  Racing is conducted on the Heffron Park criterium circuit every Saturday throughout the year in a safe and friendly environment.  To ensure your safety we have marshals situated around the course who are in contact via two way radio.  St John Ambulance personnel are on hand every week also.

We have a strong Junior membership, currently approximately 40.  Many of our Juniors have won medals at State Championships.  2004 was a great year with several of our juniors having won State and National medals on both track & road. Luke Davison was 2004 Under 15 Mens National 250metre time trial champion on the track. Brittany Orr, a former National and Oceania champion was Silver medalist in the NSW Womens U19 Road Championships.  Robert Cater was selected to represent Australia in the Junior World Titles in Italy.  Chris White was voted Masters 5 rider of the year for 2003.   Peter McDonald won the 2004 prestigious Elite Men's Grafton to Inverell Road Race.  We also received our first ever Gold medal in the 2004 Paralympics with Janelle Lindsay who, with her partner Lindy Hou, won tandem Sprint in Athens.
