NEW SOUTH WALES TEAM TIME TRIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS AT CALGA

The NSW State U19 Men's Team Time Trial State Champions on the starting line. From left, Robbie Cater, Chris Jenkins, Ben Orr (at rear) and Individual U 19 Men's State Time Trial champion, Shaun Higgerson right.  "Uncle Bob" Higgerson looks on. The guys blast off the line on their way to complete the 40 kilometre course in only 23 seconds over an hour

This was a very lucky shot that I got of the guys powering up "Blood Hill".  It was taken through the front windscreen of the car whilst we were descending Blood hill about 70kph behind the Men's team.  So I hope you will understand it being a little blurry

The Masters 1 to 3, Team 1, all looked very happy at the start.  The miserable weather and rain couldn't dampen their spirits.  From left Neil Morris, Mark "Slapper" Robertson, Dave Jackson and Dave McPherson. A few of the Calga climbs soon knocked those smiles off the boys faces as can be seen in this photo.  That's the look of genuine pain.  Even the "Slapper" is not wearing his usual grin The Masters were powering.  Here they are catching Southern Cross about the 15km mark which was awesome given that Southern Cross had started 9 minutes in front of them.

Here's our guys behind our old mates from Bicisport.  Graham Jones on the left and Steve "Dicko" Dickson on the right.  The boys had a little bit of bad luck with the signs and our guys snuck past them. Here's RBCC Men on the start line.  From left Matthew Lucas, Scott McDonald, Aaron Castles & Clive Hammerson. The men blast off the line and get up to speed for the two lap, 80 kilometre course.

The Men looked hot on the first 40 kilometre loop.  Here they are powering up "Blood" hill. By the second lap however things were a little different.  I entitle this one, "Settle Scotty, Settle !!" I must say as a spectator this event was extraordinarily exciting.  Here's a typical view I saw for most of the 80 kilometres and half a tank of petrol.

Stay tuned, more shots coming as Ernie Smith develops the ones he took on the day.
Here's a picture of the start giving a bigger picture of the scene at Calga. Randwick Botany would like to thank all the NSW Commissaire's and voluntary personnel who made this extraordinary event possible.  Here is our old mate Ronny Peak making sure everything was OK as the team approached one of the turns.  Thanks Peaky.
