Congratulations Frank & Natasha Caristo |
|
 |
Look how happy & proud Frank looks at the birth
of his son Xavier Domenic who was born at 7.55pm
on Monday 5 June, weighing in at 8lbs.
Actually this is a photo of Frank winning D
grade on 29 April but we reckon he's probably
just as happy and proud about young Xavier. RBCC wishes Frank and family all the best from
your clubmates at RBCC. |

CONGRATULATIONS JOSH MARDEN |
|
RBCC member Josh Marden as
part of the FRF Couriers - Caravello UCI team has taken
out stage 3 of the
FBD Insurance RÁS'.
The FBD Insurance RÁS'
is an eight day staged cycle race organised
in Ireland since 1953. The event has been formally
known as the 'Ras Tailteann' and is sometimes referred
to abroad as the 'Rás' or 'Tour of Ireland' |
|
 |
Stage winner Joshua Marden
said: “It was tough, given the conditions and
the wind, but that is the same for everybody.
Everybody has to do it,” he said. “We studied
the finish the night before and I knew that if I
was in a break, I had a good chance being a
sprinter. So that is how it worked out. I had
two guys in the break to help me, they could
shelter me most of the day and then coming into
the finish, they were able to lead it out for
me.” “I will try again
this week, if it comes down to a sprint we have
a very good chance because we are a strong
sprinting team. Myself and another guy are good
finishers.”

NEXT (NORTH) CLUB RIDE
June 11 |
Thanks to Club Sponsor, Tony "The Bug"
Corrigan of Bike Bug who organised the 3
Georges ride through Galston George,
Berrowra Waters and Bobbin Head.
From the received comments, the ride was
a huge success. Special thanks
also to Calvin Smith our “map
coordinator”. Thanks to The Bug
for having cold drinks, hot cross buns
and Easter eggs at the shop to "carb up"
at the end of the ride. In Fact the
members liked it so much that, Bikebug
will be organizing similar rides on the
second Sunday of every month leaving at
6:30 from the Bikebug Store. For
those of us who live in the east, we
will meet at 5.55am at the Randwick
gates of Centennial Park (usual ride
start location) for a 6am sharp
departure and ride to Bike Bug to meet
up for the ride start at 6.30am.
Sunday June 11th is our next adventure
and the route is as follows.
Bikebug 6:30 ridding to Mona Vale Road
then Mona vale Road to Mccars Creek road
through the toll booths traveling to
Akuna Bay then traveling onto West Head
to the look out and stopping for a
drink. Return back down West Head Road
to Mccarrs Creek Road, left to Church
Point down Pitt Water RD towards
Seaforth across the Spit Bridge through
Mosman returning to Bikebug.

ROBBIE McEWEN AT
HEFFRON PARK |
_small.jpg) |
Some amazing scenes that we will probably never
see again. Robbie McEwen doing a "Wheelie"
down the main straight of Heffron Park which was
named the Robbie McEwen straight in his honour.
It was our great pleasure to have the most
successful Australian Tour de France rider,
twice winner of the Green Jersey and multiple
stage winner of the Tour de France visit us at
Heffron Park. It was my great honour to
make Robbie an honorary member of the Randwick
Botany Cycling Club and present him with a club
jersey. Robbie took a ride around Heffron
with a big bunch of junior and senior riders.
He told me that the memories came flashing back
(especially the wind) as he negotiated varous
sections of the track, remembering racing at
Heffron some 10 years ago.
The occasion was quite literally set in cement
as Robbie sunk his hands in some wet cement as a
permanent memorial of his visit with us.
Luckily we were able to pull him out. more

Tour Down Under and 4th U23 - Good one HIGGO !! |

Mt Torrens,
Australia, January 11, 2006 and Shaun
Higgerson powered home over the 40km course
in a time of 56.20.86 (42.59 km/h).
The course with big climbs was just what the
doctor ordered for Higgo. Although his
ride was not without drama, he dropped a
chain whilst changing between big and small
front rings and lost time with that.
Then about 1 km from the finish he gets a
puncture in his rear wheel and had to ride
home not letting up on the pace with his
rear disk wheel grinding into the bitumen.
Higgo you were meant to win this one.
Congratulations from all your club mates at
RBCC.
